Answer: One thing I'm sure about: I love my job.

I've been unemployed before -- searchin' for work and it's no fun at all. That'll break you down, pedaling yourself around, trying to sell something like your own labor -- No way, man. I hope to never do it again.

I'm sure about this: I like my job.

I've got 2 kids, like I told you before, and they love to ride in the truck - honk the horn, steer the wheel.

You might think it's not as noble as a fireman. That's what I wanted to be as a kid - a fireman. Well. The world thinks firemen are heroes -- and they are, a lot of the time -- but hear out my thinkin' on this. How often are there fires? Really?

Ok. Hold that answer in your head.

Now answer this: How often do you need someone to collect your trash?

Alright. Do the math.

Dump truck drivers are the Secret Heroes of the Universe, I'm telling you.



Besides, I like who I work with -- the guys at the Center and the kids on the truck.



We're like a family.



And it's not always about where you're at or what you're doing, but who you're with and more importantly how you're feeling. I feel pretty good, most days. I don't take work home with me! I make money to put food on the table, I get holidays off, and I offer an important - often overlooked though - service that society needs.

So, that's one choice I'm real proud of.

I like my job.
